Amazing images. Before the highway, this location was a canal. In the mania of cars, which afflicted Holland in the post war years, the canal was filled in and the divided highway was built. Years later, the highway was removed and the canal restored. See the twin clock towers for orientation.
Utrecht is a major city in Holland south of Amsterdam. Like every Dutch city, it is known for bikes and canals. After leaving Groningen, I took a train to Amsterdam and then rode my bike from Amsterdam through Utrecht and then to Houten. I stayed in Houten for several days with friends and biked a couple times into Utrecht from Houten.
