Square 1 is Eugene based but the ideals and models are beyond Eugene.  The image above is a village located on the property of a church that no longer exists.  The church infrastructure is being adapted to the needs of the village. Another church in my own neighborhood passed on and sold its property for very little to Square 1 to build another village.  Work should begin in 2027. Part of the construction will be on what is now a parking lot.

S 1 is building small for small budgets and modest needs for the residents. This is a model that can show what new lifestyles can be like not only of low income people but also for middle class people who want to downsize by choice and build community. The village model is similar to co housing but at a fraction of the cost. The new village in my neighborhood will also adapt the church infrastructure to the needs of the village.  Re use is a great model. There are 1000s of underused properties all over the country that could be upgraded with this type of development.
