Drop down menu above. The graphic below is a short look at the contents of the Primer. All aspects support each other.
Welcome to the Primer!
This is the new home for "A Primer For Paradigm Shift." A living book - content will be added. The Primer advocates and empowers taking action on behalf of sustainability and uplift in one’s own life, home, neighborhood and community. The Primer encourages making common cause with others and to be an affirmative example of "Be The Change."
Note - The Primer is a work in progress. Much of the writing is in "good" condition. Much of the writing needs work. My thinking, even semi rough drafts are much better than no content. The Primer is a valuable resource even unfinished. Comments about the content are welcome. Thanks!
The Primer's content is ambitious and positive. That said,,,
The simple reason for writing the Primer is this. Given the socially engineered condition of our over-consuming society and the predatory economic system that degrades people and planet as a business model; creating alternatives to capitalism and its consumer culture is only sensible.
Our own lifestyles, homes and neighborhoods ARE places we can take action. No permission required. The Primer offers ideals, vision and practical actions we can take in our own lives but perhaps most important, the Primer describes real life examples of people and projects ALREADY in the act of paradigm shift. Paradigm shift is not a future utopia, its here and now for a growing number of social and economic pioneers. The more people engaged in paradigm shift, the better. The Primer explains.
Paradigm shift is an enormous task. Whether its possible to transform our society or not, the more people engaged in a great upward leap forward for humanity, the better.
As used in the Primer, "Paradigm Shift" means
1] the act of purposefully moving towards a society that takes care of its needs within the boundaries of the natural world,
2] a society that embraces the ideal to bring out the best in positive human potential of its members and
3] that society is served by an honest and responsible economic system.
From this perspective, the reasons for paradigm shift are equally, care for the natural world and care for the human condition. A healthy society goes with a healthy environment. There is no lack of human and financial capacity to create the present and future we all deserve. The greatest need is to recognize our own value and potentials and then to manifest what we are all capable of.
Social and economic conditions are not equal. Still, there is a place in paradigm shift for everyone. No legislation, no policy, no permission needed. The paradigm shift ideal is for home, neighborhood and local transformations to connect, support and amplify each other to become a widespread movement. Critical to paradigm shift is to gracefully share what we are learning with friends, neighbors and the wider world.
Paradigm shift can manifest in suburbia, transformed apartment complexes, local economic development corporations, neighborhood associations, youth programs, empowered seniors, pushing back on cars, school gardens, strip mall parking lots, progressive business and many many other places.
To prioritize our own time and money is a core principle of paradigm shift.
The Primer is inclusive. It applauds people and projects that boost paradigm shift even if they don’t identify with, or are not even aware of the term Paradigm Shift. A vital part of paradigm shift is making common cause with allies and assets found in almost any home, neighborhood and community.
Work on the Primer is on going. More content is added weekly. New ideas for writings occur almost daily. This book on line instead of hard copy allows for flexibility, updates, easy links to other parts of the Primer and new material. Access to the Primer is free. Readers are invited to $UPPORT the Primer, encourage friends and networks to reference the Primer and put the ideals and actions of the Primer into use in their own lives. Readers are encouraged to TELL ME about about examples of paradigm shift they are involved with or know about. This site can become a surging resource to show and tell what humans are capable of to make common cause with others on behalf of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
Note -There is no "AI assistance" writing the Primer.
