This section is a purposeful travel log. I have explored places in Europe with intention both to have a great time but also to visit places known to be pushing back on cars - Groningen, Copenhagen, Houten, Paris, Vauban Neighborhood in Frieberg, Trento, Alghero and my favorite, Barcelona. I love the public spaces senza macchina,,, without cars. I love the lungo mare e lungo laghi - promenades, along the sea or lakes with no cars and often with wonderful human managed landscapes up close with spectacular nature all around. Humans are capable of beautiful creation and preservation of natural places.
Europe is overloaded with cars, too, but there are urban places that are simply a joy to experience. This section will take a look at Groningen, Houten, Utrecht, Vauban Neighborhood in Freiberg, Paris, Nice, Barcelona, Trento, Alghero and many other locations that show what paradigm shift can look like, usually pushing back on cars.
This section will go into more detail. Over time, there will be more locations and stories about pushing back on cars in Europe.
Below, travels in Europe. Adding the winter of 2025 in Alghero would add another color to already crowded Sardegna.
