Be The Change - A Paradigm Shift Lifestyle

This part of Be The Change describes what a paradigm shift lifestyle can look like in terms of environmental sustainability.  After this brief introduction to Be The Change - A Paradigm Shift Lifestyle, there will be a link to another part of the Primer that explains features a footprint calculator, assessing one's own footprint and then to reduce it.

First, what is a lifestyle? A simple definition could go like this. A lifestyle is the active product of a person’s values, attitudes, ideals, world view, likes, dislikes, goals, interests and financial resources.

Paradigm shift, sustainability and the uplift of the human species will not happen unless humans dramatically reduce their impact on the natural world for two basic reasons.

1] The physical damage to the air, water, soil, plant and animal species we depend on for our own survival creates many public health and economic problems. When the planet suffers, people suffer.  Plus, the planet has a right to health and well being. If one believes in Karma, humans have a lot to account for.

2] Even the lifestyles of average Americans are far from sustainable. The damage is not only physical to the environment and public health [and Karma] but the damage is also severe to social and even spiritual well being. Positive human capacity, civic culture and social uplift all take a big hit thanks to the distractions of revenue producing pop culture, sports, gambling, shopping/fashion, celebrities and much of social media.

Capitalism depends on, meaning it cannot exist as we know it, without degrading the environment and degrading positive human capacity. Reducing eco footprints is pushing back on capitalism in a very tangible way. Trading capitalism's oversized eco footprints and social engineered distractions for a purposeful lifestyle that is eco logically and socially responsible is a core act of paradigm shift and an experience important to share.

There is a sweet spot where comfort, security and well being can exist within the boundaries of the natural world and provides the security and well being for positive human capacity to manifest. Because, the sweet spot does not fit the needs of capitalism and the consumer culture, a vital task of paradigm shift and its participants is to find that sweet spot. To find the sweet spot with its much smaller eco footprint is to Be The Change.

Humans fitting within the boundaries of the natural world is a pre requisite for paradigm shift. That means changes in transportation, food choices, our homes - their size and how many people share that space, recreation, what we buy and how often, what we throw away and much more.

HERE < is the link to another part of the Primer, Reduce Eco Footprints.  This section will show and tell the footprint calculator and another link will take you to an anecdotal description of a real life small footprint lifestyle.

The next part of Be The Change is becoming an advocate of paradigm shift. Advocating paradigm shift is most effective when the advocate lives the Change and that means having a small eco footprint lifestyle that is an example to others and also is a source of useful experience to share with others.
